Emperor Anushirvan hears owls remarking on the number of ruined villages in his kingdom. A miniature painting from a 16th century illuminated manuscript of Nizami Ganjari's Khamsa ('Five Poems'). This image was originally produced in Tabriz, Persia (now Iran) 1539-1543 by an unknown artist.
