The Fall of Man
This illustration of the Fall of Man is from the Bedford Hours. In the bottom left corner God brings Adam to the Garden of Eden. The top left corner shows Adam naming the animals, and to the right of this Eve is created from Adam's rib and God forbids them to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. In the centre of the picture Adam and Eve are shown eating the apple, and they are expelled from the Garden and Adam is shown in the bottom right corner working the land as Eve spins. The top right corner shows Adam and Eve's sons, Cain and Abel, making offerings. Below this Cain kills his brother in jealousy. The Bedford Hours is a Book of Hours that was produced in Paris, around 1414-1423. Add. 18850, f.14.
