The Absurd ABC
Walter Crane's charming Absurd ABC was originally published in 1874. It features colourful illustrations along with entertaining verse to help children learn to read. This image features the letters A, B, C and D along with illustrations of a cow jumping over the moon and a cat playing the fiddle.
Rhymes include: 'C for the CAT that played on the fiddle, When cows jumped higher than Heigh Diddle Diddle.'
