In Flanders fields
This image is from In Flanders fields by John McCrae, illustrated by Ernest Clegg. It presents the beginning of this well-known World War I poem: In Flanders fields the poppies grow/ Between the crosses row on row/ That mark our place & in the sky/ The larks still bravely singing fly/ Scarce heard amid the guns below. It was originally published in Mount Vernon, New York by William Edwin Rudge in 1921.
