Lindisfarne Gospels St. Matthew's Gospel
An exquisitely decorated page from the Lindisfarne Gospels. The page featured is the second incipit page to St. Matthew's Gospel; Matthew 1, 18; the beginning of the Christmas story. The text with decorated chi-rho [XPI] monogram. The Lindisfarne Gospels was originally produced in Lindisfarne in North East England c.710-721.
