Sugriva sends out the monkeys to rescue Sita
Rama, Laksmana and the monkey king Sugriva are seated on a rocky eminence and send out the monkey troops to search for Sita, who has been abducted by Ravana, King of Lanka. Rama gives Hanuman his ring as a token that he is Rama's approved messenger. Image taken from Ramayana, Kishkindha Kanda. This copy of the Ramayana was commissioned by Rana Jagat Singh of Mewar in Rajashan between 1649 and 1653.
