The Annunciation to the Virgin
In this Annunciation scene the Virgin Mary reads with the angel Gabriel behind her, and the dove above. The illuminated border includes trompe l'oeil decoration of flowers, and a strawberry. The image is taken from the Office of Matins within a 16th-century Dutch Book of Hours. Kings 9, f.66v.
