The Annunciation to the Virgin (Mirandola Hours)
The Virgin Mary and the Angel Gabriel are depicted in this Annunciation scene, set in a palace with columns and balconies, with a phoenix rising from a hexagonal entablature. At the foot of the image Adam and Eve are depicted with the arms of Galeotto Pico della Mirandola I, and his wife, Bianca Maria d'Este. This image is taken from the Mirandola Hours, originally produced in Italy, c. 1490-1499.
