The Palmer family
This unfinished oil painting features Major William Palmer, Bengal Artillery (1740-1816) with his wife, Bibi Faiz Bakhsh ‘Faiz-un-Nisa’ Begum (died 1828), on his right and her sister Nur Begum on his left. They are accompanied by their children. Johann Zoffany, the artist of this work, produced this work between April-July, 1785 whilst residing in the city of Lucknow. F597.
