Valmiki teaches the Ramayana
Valmiki is teaching the epic Ramayana or story of Rama, to Kusha and Lava, Rama and Sita's twin sons in the foreground. The left background shows the spread of the epic to all the sages and ascetics, while the right half of the page shows Rama and Sita seated on a throne being advised by a messenger. Image taken from Ramayana, Bala Kanda. This copy of the Ramayana was commissioned by Rana Jagat Singh of Mewar in Rajashan between 1649 and 1653.
